Yes - A visa is required for travel to Kazakhstan

Temporary Entry Suspension: Please be advised that Kazakhstan has suspended entry for all nationalities until further notice. This does not apply to citizens and residents of Kazakhstan. This is a rapidly changing situation. Travisa is monitoring the situation closely so check our website for updates.

Visa May Be Required

Visa exempt for a stay of up to 30 days. The traveler must:

  • Hold a passport valid at least six months on entry with one blank visa page
  • Hold proof of sufficient funds
  • Hold proof of onward/return airline tickets
  • Hold documents showing proof of purpose of trip
  • Hold all documents required for the next destination
  • Confirm with their airline that boarding will be permitted without a visa as these conditions are subject to change

Passport Requirements:

Original passport and one photocopy of information page. The passport must be signed, valid for 6 months beyond stay in Kazakhstan, with at least one blank passport page available for Kazakhstan visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Kazakhstan visas.


Kazakhstan Visa Application Form:

One signed Kazakhstan visa application form. After placing your order, fill out the application form included in your Visa Application Kit.


Photo Requirements:

One recent 2 x 2 passport type photograph, in color, front view and with a plain/white background.

OR - you can upload a photo when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.


Other Forms:

A letter of intent, addressed to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Kazakhstan. The letter must indicate the purpose of the trip, dates and places of visit, and contact information in Kazakhstan. The letter must request the particular visa type and validity requested and must be signed by the applicant.


Official Invitation:

If you apply for a private visa for more than one month, an original invitation letter issued by the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan is required. Your relatives or friends in Kazakhstan can obtain invitation from the local authorities of MIA and send it to your address in the USA. The period of stay in Kazakhstan is shown in a separate paragraph and must not exceed 90 days.


Proof of Travel Arrangements:

New York Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or a travel agency or copy of airline ticket showing entry and departure from Kazakhstan. For all rush requests, an itinerary is required.


Applicants Under the Age of 18:

Applicants who are applying for their minor children must present:
- a letter with a request to issue a visa addressed to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Kazakhstan. Please indicate the purpose of your trip, your contacts in Kazakhstan including their name and address, the dates of your planned trip, and places to be visited;
- a copy of the parents' passports;
- a copy of the child's birth certificate;
- a letter from one of the child's parents stating non-objection to the child's other parent taking him or her to Kazakhstan.


Special Instructions:

Washington DC and New York: The Consulate of Kazakhstan requires that all visa applicants must present their application materials in person.  An appointment is required. Once we have received and reviewed your application documentation for accuracy we can arrange and accompany you to this appointment.

Visa Validity:

Visas are only issued for a single entry. The length of stay is based on the invitation from Kazakhstan up to a maximum stay of 90 days, at the discretion of the consulate.

Visa Processing Time:

The US State Department strongly encourages American citizens planning international travel to register with the US Embassy(s) in the countries they plan to visit. Registration notifies the US Embassy in each country of your travel plans and enrolls you in the State Department travel advisory and warnings program. Feel more secure about your international travels by having Travisa register your trip with the US Department of State; simply complete the form on your visa application kit after placing your order.

Non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until all visas and passports are secured and in your possession.
